well,,,,,weird weather pattern,,La nina my ass,,the ship is going down! No time for drinking crappy beer or wine. The hop yard is getting ready for another new season, some new growth is peaking up,,only to be frozen, confused & disappointed.
High country beer was a great success! Weather, beer, people, music ASU won the game--nobody was hurt---great day!
Fall is in the air--The hops are really happy w/ the composted rabbit/chicken poo--the Casacde have far out produced Nugget, Willamette & Chinook-The Mt Hood are just setting up root system, but there is only about 6-8 weeks more of grow time.

Getting ready for the 3rd annual high country beer fest in boone nc-sept 4th 2010
planet of the grapes will have a table set up w/ cascade hops for sale-stop by to see us!Our Cascade hops will be featured in the Ivory Tower IPA--check it out!
rain rain--helping stimulate growth-its been dry here. fertilized w/ chicken/rabbit poo(already composted) not straight out of the animal!-
cascade hops brought to ASU to the brewmaster--he is making a "wet hopped" IPA for the upcoming 3rd Annual Highcountry Beer Fest in Boone Sept 4th--i cant wait!
off to the vinyard-cloud coverage, which makes it much nicer for working. I have noticed some spider mites on some hop bines/leaves, so i have sprayed w/ Dr Bronners soap/water/oil mix & it seemed to work fairly well..I have already picked some Cascade-since they were startting to oxidize(turn brown) so they were plucked!
I will be delivering the non-dried Cascade to a brewer @ ASU, who will use them as a wet hop in his magic potient, to be tasted @ Sept 4 High County Beer Fest!!
